Family Update
HBMS School Wide Updates:
- Student Arrival drop off shouldn’t begin until 7:55am, when staff is present outside and consistent with district policy. With the warmer weather and earlier sunrise, we’ve noticed a lot of students being dropped off before this time.
- Remember that for safety reasons, we don’t allow early dismissals for students after 2:25pm. Any student not picked up before 2:25pm will have to wait for the school dismissal at 3pm.
- As we head to the final couple of weeks of spring sports at HB, please be careful and respectful when coming to pick up students for sporting events.
- All vehicles should be facing the same direction.
- If you are staying beyond the 4:30pm pickup time, don’t double park someone.
- Watch for pedestrians when you depart.
8th Grade Specific Updates:
- Hershey Park trip details were emailed to families on April 23. Permission slips and money is due to their 8th grade science teacher by May 6.
- HB’s 8th Grade Move Up Ceremony
- Monday, June 8th at 4pm at Goldey Beacom College (gymnasium)
- 8th grader report time is 3pm. Families are asked to transport their students to the event, as there will be no buses from HB to Goldey Beacom that day.
- To keep with the tradition at HB (and most Red Clay middle schools), 8th graders will have an excused absence on June 8th and may attend just the move up ceremony. [Please note that in years past we had a 9am ceremony, and students were taken home by their families after the ceremony.]
- Even though Goldey Beacom’s gym is much larger than our HB auditorium, there is still a ticket limit for our students.
- More details around student dropoff location, family and staff parking, ticket limits, and other expectations will be shared soon.
- The 8th Grade Dance is May 8th. We are not moving this date. Here is a sign up genius and more details on the dance from the HB PTA.
- The Academic and Athletic Awards night is combined
